They continue in Eastern Attica the intensive sprays -with ground crews and aerial means- within the framework of the integrated program of the Region of Attica to deal with mosquitoes.

Already, since Monday 8 April, 4,000 hectares have been sprayed in the wetland of the Schinia National Park in Marathon – an area in which a large population of mosquitoes has been observed, which has increased due to the prolonged heat and drought – while eight flights by helicopter spraying have been carried out in the area .

“The consequences of the climate crisis are multiple and burden many aspects of our daily life,” said the governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, and added: “In the Attica Region, we protect the health of citizens in every way from the effects of climate change, such as population growth of mosquitoes and the risks arising from it. Our services, with absolute professionalism and consistency, proceed to map the needs in every corner of the basin and implement the spraying program using all scientific developments and modern technologies. This program will inevitably be implemented in all 66 municipalities of our Attica, so that we all – citizens and visitors – have a good summer, with health and safety”.

It is noted that since last week, the competent services of the Attica Region have moved to the mapping of Eastern Attica, while until Friday, April 12, the spraying will be completed at the points of interest of all the municipalities in the region, both by foot crews and by aerial means (spraying helicopters and drones) in inaccessible places.
