“Better you kill me than go back to this filthy prison. Will not endure. You must burn her” said during his apology to judges and juries o 60 years old from a village in the prefecture Heraklionwho sat on the bench for her sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boyproving his innocence.

But for the seat of verdict she was one indeed unanimous: guilty as charged. The 60-year-old was sentenced to a total of 11 years imprisonmentwhile the appeal has no suspensive force (the decision was by a majority of 5-2) and so he will return to the prison he is so afraid ofas he described in his apology early Wednesday afternoon.

“You don’t know all this time what I’ve been up to in the dirty prison I’m locked up in. They had to burn this prison down. I’m afraid to even sleep. I sleep with my eyes open so they don’t rush me. I asked the guards to put me in a bed with a wall. “Grandpa, did you want a baby boy??” they mock me, make fun of me. Better to kill me than send me backhe said, claiming he is not a child rapist.

The 60-year-old is credited with taking advantage of the 16-year-old’s love for animals, especially horses. That was the reason of their acquaintance and the visit of the minor that day to the farm of the accused.

The child, who was being monitored by a child psychiatrist due to his particular mental composition, had a great weakness for horses. And the defendant himself described that as soon as the minor saw his horses, he rushed to hug them and even could not hold back his tears.

He never, according to his apology, accepted the least of what is attributed to him. He claimed that he was put in this predicament by a child who did not hesitate to judge even his parents when they spoiled him.

What the boy’s family says

In his statement to cretalive, Mr. Nikos Steiakakis specifically mentions:

“The criminal treatment of the accused was proportional to the despicability of the act he committed. The family of the minor expresses its satisfaction. After all, the unanimous decision of the court leaves no doubt about the attitude of Justice towards such heinous crimes”
