In the audience of the Single-Member Criminal Appeal Court of Thessaloniki, it is revived fan episode which was noted on September 2019at the TEFAA stadium in Thermi, when a large group of people invaded the playing field where the team was playing K-17 of Olympiakos Thessaloniki (belongs to the academies of the “red whites”), removing from the athletes their jerseys.

Among the 13 defendants, they are convicted for the murder of Alkis Kampanos, during the “blind” fan incident that occurred on February 1, 2022.

9 of the 13 defendants were present in the courtroom and all are represented by attorneys.

The man convicted for the murder of Alkis (he was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison) was not released from the Trikala prisons, where he is serving his sentence.

“They came to intimidate, they took our clothes”

“They suddenly appeared and were cursing us. They came for bullying, not to do any harm. If they wanted to, they would have done it”, said in his testimony the manager of the academy team of Olympiakos Thessaloniki, who reported that he was hit.

“I had to protect 15 guys who were on our team. One player had someone pull and tear a jersey he was wearing. They took the bag with the clothes that had the Olympiakos logo. The phrase that was heard several times was “take off your shirts and we won’t bother you”, the same witness testified.

The “baton” of the depositions was taken by his son, who was competing that day and was also hit. “They addressed our parents shouting ‘why are the kids playing in this team’?” Most of them took off their jerseys and shorts. Me and a teammate disobeyed and they fought back. I think they wanted to scare us,” the young man said.

Among the acts attributed to the defendants are those of robbery by accomplice, aiding and abetting the previous act, disturbing the peace and violating the Sports Act.

The 13 defendants were identified following an investigation by the Sports Violence Sub-Directorate of Thessaloniki. In this direction, telephone privacy was removed from dozens of suspects based on the activation of mobile phone antennas in the area, while some were identified by eyewitnesses.

The trial was adjourned until next week.
