Meeting with him Archbishop of America Elpidophoros the president of SYRIZA had in New York Stefanos Kasselakis.

At the heart of the meeting, which took place in an extremely positive atmosphere, were national issues, issues of strengthening the cooperation of the Greek community and the Greek state, as well as issues of ecclesiastical interest.

For his part, the President of SYRIZA reaffirmed the strong support of the official opposition to the Ecumenical Patriarchate and of course the Archdiocese of America.

His Eminence expressed his joy that an expatriate has assumed such an important position in the Greek state.

“I was happy to welcome to our Archdiocese the Leader of the Official Opposition Stefanos Kasselakis, a child of our Homogenia, who respects and appreciates the role of our Church. I wished him success in his efforts for the progress of our beloved Greece” said Archbishop Elpidophoros.

Mr. Kasselakis participated in a working lunch with economic and investment bodies, met with the federation of Cypriot Organizations of America and attended the open event organized by SYRIZA-PS of the United States at the Kefalonian House “Kefalos”.

Today, Mr. Kasselakis will go to Washington, where he will meet with Greek-American and American parliamentarians and State Department officials.
