From tonight, Tuesday night, the weather is expected to worsen according to the Extraordinary Bulletin of worsening weather issued by EMY.

Specifically, the weather is expected to worsen from the northwest with rain and thunderstorms that in places in the west, central and north will be strong.

Snowfalls, which from the afternoon will be dense in places, will occur in the mountains of the mainland and gradually in semi-mountainous areas of northern and central Greece.

Winds will blow west southwest 5 to 6 beauforts. From the afternoon gradually to the west and north they will turn to north and in the Ionian at night they will strengthen to 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop mainly in the west, Macedonia and Thessaly.

Visibility in the morning will be locally limited.

MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: Increased clouds with rain and sporadic thunderstorms, which from the afternoon in western and central Macedonia and at night in the east will be strong in places. Snowfall, in places from the afternoon dense, will occur in the mountains and semi-mountains.
Visibility in the morning will be locally limited.
Winds: South 2 to 4 and gradually from the afternoon north 4 to 5 Beaufort.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN STEREA, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Increased clouds with rain and sporadic thunderstorms. The effects will be strong in places on the Ionian Islands, Epirus and western Sterea from morning until afternoon and in the western Peloponnese at noon and in the afternoon.

Temperature: From 05 to 18 degrees Celsius. In the north 3 to 4 degrees lower.

CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Cloudy at times increased with sporadic rains mainly in Crete.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Recommendations from Civil Protection

Recommendations to citizens to be especially careful, taking care to take measures to protect themselves from the dangers arising from the occurrence of severe weather phenomena, addresses the General Secretariat for Civil Protection in view of the worsening weather from Tuesday afternoon.

In particular, in areas where the occurrence of heavy rainfall, storms or stormy winds is forecast, GGP recommends to the citizens:

– Insure items which, if swept away by severe weather, may cause damage or injury.

– Avoid crossing torrents and streams, on foot or by vehicle, during storms and rainfall, but also for several hours after the end of their event.

– Avoid passing under large trees, under hanging signs and generally in areas where light objects (eg pots, broken glass, etc.) may come off and fall to the ground (eg under balconies). ).

– To faithfully follow the instructions of the locally competent bodies, such as the Traffic, etc.

If you are going to travel by car:

– To be informed about the weather and the condition of the road network.

– Have in their vehicle anti-skid chains and the tank full of fuel.

– To travel, if necessary, preferably during the day, preferring the main roads.

– To inform their relatives about the route they are going to follow.

– To change the schedule of their movements in order to avoid the peak of the weather phenomena.

– Wear with many layers of light clothing, instead of a heavy garment and wear appropriate shoes to avoid injuries due to slipperiness
