“15-16 years ago, I was diagnosed as a victim of chronic emotional and psychological abuse, through verbal and emotional violence, due to the systematic manipulation of my personality. It took many years of painful treatment, stubbornness and faith to be able to build mental resilience and believe in myself again. Today history repeats itself. Not from the media. Today the pathogenesis has passed to social networks.
For a few days now, I have been receiving vulgar, uncontrolled and open violence on the occasion of my candidacy for the European Parliament. They call me a whore, a fascist, a murderer, an unfit mother, and dozens of other sexist and abusive characterizations, they wish me cancer, cancer, and dozens of other imaginative curses, in the context of a propaganda that aims to create impressions through character assassination.
This Monster of violence, hatred, abuse and vulgar social wretchedness is one of the reasons that pushed me years ago to deal with social issues, expressing my concerns through shows that today are instrumentalized while they were once glorified, through books that became best sellers, through my participation in organized actions without any personal benefit, and now claiming to do so through more official bodies such as the European Parliament.
As a victim of abuse, and indeed in public view, with abusers both those who attack and those who enjoy it, but above all as a woman who managed to come out of it unscathed and stronger, dynamic, resilient, determined and whole, I am not afraid of anything and nobody. I am here, standing, healthy, with those who know me, supporting me and giving me strength, to move forward, seeing only the goal.
This monster, a hermaphrodite of sick patriarchy and internalized misogyny (unfortunately abusers in this case are both men and women) I look it in the eyes, and It is the same that I will never stop, at every opportunity to fight, from what percentage and with what means.
