Compensations amounting to 38.5 million euros will be paid today to 6,412 beneficiaries in the Peloponnese Regional Unit and some other regions of the country by ELGA.

“The government is strictly implementing its commitments to those affected. The payment of the results, thanks to the intensive efforts of the management and employees of ELGA, is carried out on time and in any case earlier than the commitment of the Government to have paid the compensations in their entirety, for each affected area, by June 30, 2024” he said in his statement by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis and he added “we continue to be on the side of our farmers and intensify the effort to reconstruct the areas affected by natural disasters”.

The compensations concern the damages caused by the extreme weather phenomenon “Daniel” in the Peloponnese last September. The highest amount of compensation is paid to the Regional Unit of Corinth, and amounts to 33.7 million euros due to the heaviest damage suffered by the vineyards of the region
