Traffic regulations for the circulation of Epitaphs will be applied on Good Friday at Thessaloniki.
In more detail, the police announcement with all the details about the roads that will be closed and at what times:
It is announced that, on Good Friday (05-03-2024), due to the procession of the Epitaphs of the Holy Churches of Agios Minas, Agios Dimitrios, To God Sophia and Agios Gregorios of Palamas (Metropolis), the following parking and traffic restrictions will apply of vehicles, in the central sector of the city:
A’ ACCORDING TO EVENTS OF THE HOLY TEMPLE OF AGIOS MINAS:
From 4:30 p.m. on 03-05-2024 and until the completion of the Epitaph procession, the traffic of all vehicles will be stopped, gradually and depending on the prevailing traffic conditions, on the following streets of the Municipality of Thessaloniki:
a. Ion. Dragoumi, in its section from Egnatia to Tsimiski.
b. El. Venizelou, in its section from Tsimiski to Egnatia.
c. Tsimiski, in its section from XANTH square to I.Dragoumis.
d. Egnatia, in its section from El. Venizelou to I.Dragoumis.
From 12.00 on 03-05-2024 and until the completion of the Epitaph procession, the stopping and parking of all vehicles will be prohibited on I. Dragoumi Street, in its section from Egnatia to Ag. Mina.
B. ACCORDING TO THE EVENTS OF THE HOLY TEMPLE OF AGIOS DEMITRIOS:
From 20.30 on 03-05-2024 and until the completion of the Epitaph procession, gradually and depending on the prevailing traffic conditions, the traffic of all vehicles will be stopped, on the following roads:
a. St. Dimitriou, in the section from Ion. Dragoumi to Peloponnese.
b. El. Venizelou, in its section from Philippou to Ag. Dimitriou.
c. Olympus, in the section from El. Venizelos to Peloponnese.
d. Peloponnese, in the section from Olympus to Ag. Dimitriou.
From 3:00 p.m. on 03-05-2024 and until the end of the Epitaph procession, the stopping and parking of all vehicles will be prohibited on the following streets:
a. St. Dimitriou, in its section from the height of the Holy Church of Ag. Dimitriou to Mak. Defense.
b. Peloponnese, on the right side (according to the direction of traffic), in the section from Olympus to Ag. Dimitriou.
c. Olympos, on the right side (according to the direction of traffic), in the section from El. Venizelos to T. Papageorgiou.
C. ON THE EVENTS OF THE HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT GREGORY OF PALAMAS (METROPOLIS):
From 20.30 on 03-05-2024 and until the completion of the Epitaph procession, gradually and depending on the prevailing traffic conditions, the traffic of all vehicles will be stopped, on the following roads:
a. Nikis Ave., in its section from El. Venizelos to Ag. Sophia.
b. Metropolis, in the section from El. Venizelos to Ag. Sophia.
c. St. Sofias, in its section from Tsimiski to Nikis Avenue.
From 3:00 p.m. on 03-05-2024 and until the end of the Epitaph procession, the stopping and parking of all vehicles will be prohibited on St. Sofias, in its section from Tsimiski to Nikis Avenue.
D. ACCORDING TO EVENTS OF THE HOLY TEMPLE OF GOD SOFIA:
From 20.30 on 03-05-2024 and until the completion of the Epitaph procession, gradually and depending on the prevailing traffic conditions, the traffic of all vehicles will be stopped, on the following roads:
a. St. Sofia, in its section from Egnatia Street to Ag. Sophia.
b. Ermou, in its section from El. Venizelos to the square Ag. Sophia.
c. Tsimiski, in its section from X.A.N.Th square. to Aristotelous Square.
d. P.P. Germanou, in its section from Tsimiski Street to P. Mela Street.
e. P. Mela, in its section from P.P. Germanou until its junction with Al streets. Svolos and Keramopoulos.
f. Mackenzie King, in its section from St. Square. Sofias until P. Mela Street.
g. Keramopoulou, in its section from its junction with P. Mela and Al. Svolos until its junction with Ag. Sophia.
For the above traffic regulations, a relevant Decision has been issued by the Traffic Directorate of Thessaloniki.
Drivers are requested to move their vehicles away from the Epitaphia routes in time, to comply with the instructions of the traffic police who will cover the religious events and to choose alternative routes in time to avoid traffic jams.
