Obsessive ideas that her father intended to poison her possessed the 49-year-old who took the life of the 70-year-old retired sailor in his home behind Agios Nikolaos square in Samos, today.

The 49-year-old, mother of a 20-year-old man and divorced, had previously been hospitalized in psychiatric institutions.

According to well-informed sources, recently she has been suffering from depression and as early as 2020 she was tormented by the obsession that her father intends to kill her by poisoning the water she drinks.

The same sources point out that the relationship between father and daughter has always been turbulent, summarizing that to a large extent the tensions were due to the fact that the unfortunate 70-year-old could not accept the fact that his daughter suffers from psychological problems.

The 70-year-old, who was recovering from surgery at home, was hit multiple times by a metal object on the head.

From the social environment of the murdered person, the disturbed relations between father and daughter who went back and forth from Samos to Athens are confirmed.

It is described that there were periods during which their communication was interrupted, while the necessity of upgrading and further staffing the public mental health services on the island is pointed out.

Neighbors of the unfortunate man speak of a quiet man who, however, did not have such a good relationship with his daughter.

“The 70-year-old came to Samos separated with his daughter, who sometimes went to Athens. I had the impression that now she was not here, maybe she came for the holidays. Their relations were not so good, they had a disturbed relationship. But I didn’t imagine it would get to this point. The 70-year-old was living alone during this period,” their neighbor said.
