553: The 5th Ecumenical Council begins its work in Constantinople, on the subject of the heresy of Monophysitism.

1789: The Council of General Classes convenes in Versailles, which will lead to the French Revolution.

1916: The National Bank of Greece announces that from now on loans will also be given to women.

1995: Inflation in Greece falls to 9.9% and it is the first time after 22 years that it has reached single digits.

2002: Panathinaikos defeats Kinder Bologna 89-83 and is declared European champion for the third time in its history.

2010: Greeks are taking to the streets across the country, reacting to the new economic measures. 150,000 citizens demonstrate in Athens, where widespread incidents occur. Hooded men threw Molotov cocktails at a branch of the Marfin Egnatia bank on Stadiou Street, as a result of which three employees, including a pregnant woman, died of suffocation.
