As part of targeted controls to combat the use of firecrackers, sparklers and improvised pyrotechnicsover the Easter holiday period, three people were arrested, on three separate occasions, for contravening the sparkler and flare legislation.

In particular, in the first case, he was arrested yesterday (May 4, 2024) in the morning in her area Imathia, by police officers of the Alexandria Security Department, a minor citizen, as 96 firecrackers and 4 types of pyrotechnics were found and confiscated in his possession. Also, his mother was arrested for neglect of supervision of a minor.

In the second case, he was arrested yesterday (May 4, 2024) at noon in the area of ​​Kilkis, by police officers of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team of the Kilkis Security Department, a local man, as during a check carried out on a vehicle he was driving, 3 firecrackers and 1 knife were found and confiscated.

In the third case, he was arrested yesterday (May 4, 2024) in the afternoon at Kilkisby its police officers of the Two-Wheel Policing Team of the Kilkis Police Department, a minor citizen, as 7 firecrackers were found and confiscated in his possession.

The checks by the Services of the General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia will continue at an unabated pace and it is recalled that:

The manufacture, trade, purchase, possession and use of firecrackers and their launching devices by anyone is prohibited.
The burning of sparklers is prohibited during the Easter season.
Prevent children from using or making their own.
Inform children of the risks of serious injury and even dismemberment.
Do not allow them to approach areas of illegal burning of these species, because no one guarantees that an accident will not occur.
Do not forget that sparklers and fireworks are not toys, but extremely dangerous materials and their use poses risks to physical integrity and life itself.
