The fire at a resort in Cesário Lange, in the interior of São Paulo, left at least 16 people injured. According to the Fire Department, five of them were rescued in serious condition.

The Civil Police found that a show was taking place in a space of the hotel, when, at a given moment, for reasons still unknown, the fire started and quickly spread.

Also according to the Public Security Secretariat, military police officers were called to attend to the incident and, at the scene, found some people being rescued with burns and for having inhaled a large amount of smoke.

According to the management of Mavsa Resort, a development located in the center of the city, the fire started around 11 pm on Monday (21), in an area called Dragon Bar.

While waiting for the Fire Department to arrive, the hotel’s fire brigade assisted in the evacuation of guests.

According to the management of Mavsa Resort, 16 people needed assistance. Seven of them remain hospitalized, according to the administration. It was not reported the condition they are in or the type of injury they suffered.

The resort claims to provide the necessary support for all those affected and their families.

The Fire Department claims to have rescued seven people by smoke inhalation and five other serious victims, without specifying whether the injuries were caused by burns. The victims were taken to the emergency room in Tatuí, a neighboring city, in addition to Santa Casa de Cesário Lange.

To the report, the Municipality of Tatuí reported having welcomed nine people in its health units, of which two are in the Municipal Emergency Room, both in serious condition. The others were admitted to the UPA Tatuí — two cases were serious.

According to municipal management, the two critically ill patients taken to the UPA were later moved to other locations for special care. Antone Roberto Camargo, 43, was transferred to the Unimed Hospital in Sorocaba, while Adriano Franklin Dias, 49, was transferred to a private hospital in São Paulo.

In a note, Mavsa Resort says that the place keeps all operating permits up to date. The last inspection, according to the company, took place in December 2021. “The causes of the accident are being investigated and Mavsa is effectively collaborating with the expertise.”
