1834:Theodoros Kolokotronis and Dimitrios Plapoutas are sentenced to death during the Bavarian rule. They had been accused of conspiring against the regency. Judges Georgios Tercetis and Anastasios Polyzoidis vote in favor of their discharge. Their sentence will be converted into imprisonment and they will be released as soon as Othon comes of age, in May 1835.

1932: The famous Disney cartoon Dippy Dog, better known as Goofy, makes his debut.

1935:Legendary sprinter and jumper Jesse Owens breaks six world records in one hour. Among other things, he becomes the first jumper to pass 8 meters in the long jump, with a performance of 8.13.

1973: The destroyer “Velos” captained by Nikos Pappa, withdraws from a NATO exercise. The captain, 6 officers and 25 non-commissioned officers are seeking political asylum in Italy. This move (Movement of the Navy) is a blow for the Junta, as it internationalizes the Greek problem.

1977:George Lucas’ Star Wars movie opens in theaters.

1980:Kastoria wins the Greek Cup, defeating Iraklis 5-2 in the final.
