At the Holy Pilgrimage of the Resurrection of Christ of Spaton, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, prayed today during the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the feast of Saint Great Martyr and Co-Apostle Photini of the Samaritans. This year’s celebration is part of the celebrations of 50 years since the founding of the Metropolis (1974-2024).

The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist was performed by the Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki and the Metropolitans of Kifissia Amarousiou, Oropou and Marathon Kyrillos and Glyfada, Hellinikon, Voula, Vouliagmeni and Varis Antonios concelebrated.

The Metropolitan of Mesogaia thanked the Primate of the Church of Greece, the high priests and all those who attended for their presence and spoke about the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Metropolis.

Afterwards, the general archpriestly commissioner, Archimandrite Timotheus Aggelis, made an extensive report on the fifty-year history of the Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki.

The Archbishop emphasized that the reference to the local Church awakened in him a piece of the past. He spoke about the blessed hierarchs who shepherded the Metropolis of Mesogaia, while he talked about the gifts and possibilities of the Metropolitan of Mesogaia Nikolaos. He pointed out, in fact, that in an era in which there are many problems, which have an impact on the life and course of the Church, a fight needs to be made and called on the pastor to stand by, advise and accompany.

“Each era has its own problems which are no different from each other and it is time that we should all continue and work together. We are called to combine, to unite Hellenism with Christianity. They give us many “medicines”, but it does not mean that whoever takes many “medicines” also finds his health”, noted the Archbishop and added that “our center is the Divine Liturgy, during which everyone approaches the another with special feelings. I will make this wish, to unite Hellenism, Christianity and the struggle not for personal interest, but for the progress of this place”.

Also, the Archbishop thanked Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki for his contribution to the world and to the Church.
