Implemented by the Unified Operations & Crisis Management Coordination Center of the Hellenic Police Headquarters
In readiness for incidents of a police nature took place on Monday, May 27 and Friday, May 31, 2024, at Kalamata and Alexandroupolis airports, respectively.
The exercise was organized and implemented by the Unified Operations & Crisis Management Coordination Center of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, while personnel from the General Regional Police Directorates of Peloponnese and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Fire Brigade (P.Y. Kalamata and Alexandroupoli), the E. K.A.B. (Kalamata and Alexandroupolis branches) and Civil Aviation Services.
The scenario of the exercise focused on the procedures for responding to an incident of handling suspicious objects (checked baggage), with a parallel occurrence of a hostage incident (spontaneous fortification of an offender), within airport premises, as well as Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
The purpose of the exercise was to test the degree of activation and response of all involved Services (police and other Agencies/Services) to the Emergency Response Plan prepared by the Greek Police.
