For the fifth day today, Sunday, investigations continue in Symi to locate the 67-year-old BBC presenter Michael Mosleywhose traces were lost at noon last Wednesday, June 5, when he left the beach in Pedi to go for a walk in the direction of the beach of Agia Marina.

The investigations are conducted by land and sea in an area which – according to the mayor of Symi Mr. Lefteris Papakalodoukas in “Rodiaki” – “is impassablewith stony with cliffs and dangerous pointswhile there is no such path that anyone can easily walk if they do not have the appropriate equipment and physical condition”.

According to information, the searches today will be focused west of the beach of Agia Marina and the Frios cavedirectly opposite the islet of the same name – a cave chaotic and with dangerous access.

As reported by the Independent, this is a system of caves that the residents describe as “the abyss».

As they explain, the network of caves, which is located on a picturesque beach, consists of dozens of tunnels which can quickly fill with seawater.

The mayor of Symis stated that the investigation area has been targeted and said: “I believe that today the whole problem will end and we will find the man. We are desperately searching. It’s a huge anxiety that we all experience.”

In a statement to the BBC, the presenter’s wife, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, said they were “not giving up hope that he will be found alive”.
