The police rescued 8 women, who were provided with help and protection, with the assistance of specialized M.K.O.
A criminal group was dismantled by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Human Trafficking, whose members promoted women to prostitution in brothels in the area of Metaxourgeio, with the aim of illegal financial gain.
As part of the police operation, 7 people were arrestedof which 3 are members of the pimp ring and 4 as they violated seals set by the Authority.
A case file was filed against them for -as the case may be- criminal organization, pimping and violation of seals set by the Authority, while -2- members of the criminal group are also accused of the same crimes, whose details have been identified and are being sought.
As it turned out, the defendants had set up a criminal group, with distinct roles, and were promoting women into prostitution, which they sent to brothels in the Metaxourgeio area, taking advantage of part of the proceeds.
In fact, they had hired them to serve the purpose different buildingswithin which the almshouses were housed and operated.
The properties, in which the brothelswere hired by a member of the criminal group, while other members had undertaken the guarding/protection of the houses and the surveillance of the extradited women.
In the context of the police operation, with the assistance of OPKE police officers, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service and Police Dog escorts, simultaneous checks in 7 brothels, a mini market, a car rental company, as well as a house.
From the searches carried out, among others, the following were found and seized:
– 2 recording machines and surveillance cameras of the premises of the brothels,
– 4 mobile phones,
– a large number of handwritten notes, which refer – as the case may be – to extradited women, brothel staff, numbers of sex dates per shift, “jazz” dates, as well as the division of prostitution proceeds between brothel staff, extradited and exploiters and the amount of -425- euros.
The exploited women were provided with help and protection by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Human Trafficking, with the assistance of M.K.O. specialized in human trafficking issues. “A21” and “OUR GREECE”, which we met with equipment for the successful completion of the operation.
The arrested persons, with the case filed against them, were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the administrative deportation procedure was initiated against 2 foreigners who were brought from the places under investigation.
