A vehicle belonging to Claudia Sheinbaum’s motorcade collided with another vehicle
Mexico’s president-elect’s first domestic tour was marred yesterday when her motorcade collided with another vehicle, killing an elderly passenger, her office said.
THE Claudia Sheinbaumthe first woman to assume the presidency in Mexico, was moving to the state Coahuilain the northern part of the country, where the present was waiting for her President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, when the accident happened. He was not at the scene when the collision occurred.
The future president — who will be sworn in and take office on October 1 — arrived at the scene a few minutes later and was informed about the health status of the people in the cars that collided.
“We express our deep regret” for the death of the elderly man, said its services in a press release issued after the traffic accident in the city Monclova.
Members of the lady’s team Sheinbaum they were taken to a hospital, admitted and are being treated, however, without their condition inspiring concern, according to the same source.
The president-elect’s team vehicle was traveling “at an excessive speed,” the city’s mayor, Mario Alberto Davilaelected with the colors of the opposition PAN (“Party of National Action”, right).
