The Service has been activated Copernicus/Emergency Management Service for the immediate mapping of areas of the Attica Region, which were affected by forest fires that occurred on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June.

According to a statement from the ministry Climate Crisis and Civil Protectionby order of the Secretary General of Civil Protection, the Emergency Planning Directorate of the Secretary General of Civil Protection, as National Contact Point, activated the Copernicus/Emergency Management Service (activation code (EMSR733)) of the European Union.

The purpose of the activation is the production of cartographic products and data for areas of the Attica Region, which were affected by fires that occurred on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, to assist the work of the agencies involved in dealing with emergencies and managing the consequences of the phenomenon.

The request was accepted by the European Union and the availability of a series of cartographic data and products resulting from the analysis of satellite images is expected immediately.

The data and maps of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service/Mapping Service will be made available directly by the Directorate of Planning and Emergency Response of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection to all involved bodies free of charge for the management of their project.
