Lockheed Martin and ODA delivered the 20th F-16 aircraft upgraded to the “Viper” configuration for the Hellenic Air Force 03/07/2024
Lockheed Martin and the Hellenic Aviation Industry (HAE) today delivered the 20th F-16 aircraft upgraded to the “Viper” configuration for the Hellenic Air Force.
As announced by Lockheed Martin, this delivery further strengthens Greece’s defense capabilities, equipping the Hellenic Air Force with the most advanced and cost-effective fleet F-16 in Europe.
“Lockheed Martin is proud to work with ODA to upgrade F-16s to the advanced Viper configuration for the Hellenic Air Forcesaid OJ Sanchez, vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Fighter Group.
“These upgrades feature advanced capabilities that enhance Greece’s role in NATO and its interoperability, as well as in peacekeeping and deterrence operations across Europehe added.
THE Lockheed Martinin cooperation with the ODA is upgrading 84 F-16 aircraft to the Viper configuration, aiming to complete the program by 2027.
Work on the aircraft is carried out at ODAwith the guidance of Lockheed Martin teams located both in the ODA and in the United States.
With 16 more aircraft in progress for configuration upgrade Viperadditional aircraft are expected to be delivered during the year, the statement added.
The cooperation enhances Greece’s interoperability in NATO and includes advanced security and systems improvements, such as the APG-83 radar and the Automatic Terrain Collision Avoidance System, the statement noted.
