35-year-old man arrested for causing fire – Information says he is one of four people brought in earlier who were allegedly flying a drone, the crash of which is being investigated as the cause of the fire
The start of the fire that broke out earlier in Glyka Nera was captured by the drone camera. The fire, which broke out at noon on Wednesday in a wooded area near a residential area, appears to have been caused by the fall of a military-type drone.
An arrest
Officers of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) proceeded to arrest a 35-year-old man, who is considered responsible for causing the fire in the forest area in the Glyka Nera area, while an administrative fine of 4,675 euros was imposed.
According to information from the Fire Department, the 35-year-old is one of the four people who were brought in earlier by ELAS. In addition, the same information states that these 4 people, employees of a private company, were allegedly flying a drone, the fall of which is being examined as the cause of the fire
It is noted that the arrested person is being held and will be brought before the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens tomorrow.

The fire, which started at 14:20 at noon, immediately took on dimensions while a message was sent from 112 calling on the citizens in the area to remain on alert.
According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out on the north side of Ymittos and moved against the houses, towards the forest part where there was a dense forest area.
To extinguish it, strong ground and air forces were mobilized. From the air, 9 aircraft and 7 helicopters, one of which is coordinating.
Also, 100 firefighters with 6 teams of walking departments and 25 vehicles were mobilized.
