Four bullets were removed, during a long operation, from the body of the 68-year-old ophthalmologist, who was shot yesterday at noon by his 49-year-old Albanian ex-partner, at the junction of Jean Moreas and Filikis Eterias streets, in Chalandi. The ophthalmologist remains in critical condition with doctors doing everything possible to stay alive.

The 68-year-old was returning, yesterday at noon, together with the 12-year-old girl he had acquired abroad, from the child’s school, while the perpetrator was waiting for him at the entrance of the apartment building. After a fight they took out a revolver and shot him. Immediately after, he was arrested by DIAS police officers who rushed to the spot.

The 49-year-old had lost custody of the child to the ophthalmologist, who was raising him with his English wife, while there were constant tensions between them, as well as legal disputes.

According to information from police sources, the 49-year-old constantly says incomprehensible phrases to the police and claims various things about her relationship with the doctor and the behavior towards their child.

At the same time, ELAS is conducting investigations into how the foreigner found the revolver with which he shot the ophthalmologist.
