For a very difficult day tomorrow, as according to fire risk map most of the country is on a high and much higher risk index due to high temperatures and gale force winds that will reach 7 Beaufort, while gusts will approach 9 and even 10 Beaufort, said the Minister of Climate Crisis and of Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias
As he said, Attica, Boeotia, Evia, almost the entire Peloponnese, Fthiotida, Fokida, Lesbos and Chios are in orange, while he emphasized that in the areas of the Fire Department, all security forces and local authorities are on heightened alert. Finally, Mr. Kikilias asked everyone to demonstrate the same increased readiness and responsibility.
It is noted that a coordination meeting was held a while ago with all the relevant ministries, the fire department, ELAS, the Army, the Coast Guard, the Civil Protection, the Regions, as well as all those involved.

“Tomorrow is very difficult given that this year’s fire season is the most difficult in the last 20 years.
According to the fire danger map, most of the country is at high and much higher risk due to high temperatures and gusty winds that will reach 7 Beaufort, with gusts approaching 9 and even 10 Beaufort. Attica, Boeotia, Evia, almost the entire Peloponnese, Fthiotida, Phocis, Lesvos and Chios are in orange, so especially in these areas the Fire Department, all security bodies and OTAs are on high alert. We must all show the same increased preparedness and responsibility to protect and protect ourselves from fires that can become uncontrollable in a matter of minutes.”
Very high risk of fire in the regions of Attica, Peloponnese and the PEs of Achaia, Ilia, Lesvos, Chios, Boeotia, Evia, Phocis, Fthiotida
A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow for the regions of Attica, Peloponnese as well as in some areas of the regions of Central Greece, Greece and the North Aegean according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the general secretariat of the Ministry of Civil Protection . and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr).
Specifically, the very high risk of fire is expected tomorrow for the following areas:

In addition, the personnel of the Fire Services of the above Regional Units remain on partial alert, in order to deal with the increased service arrangements, which may arise due to a greatly increased risk of fire (risk category 4).
At the same time, for the above areas, the Plan of Civil Protection actions to deal with risks due to forest fires remains in place, according to which, among other things, the implementation of the measure of the preventive ban on vehicle traffic and the stay of excursions in national forests is foreseen , forests and “vulnerable” areas.

- Follow the forest fire prevention information available on the website and on the official accounts of the Fire Brigade, on Facebook and Twitter.
