A felony indictment against a 38-year-old man and regular indictments against a 48-year-old and a 61-year-old accused of child pornography committed over the Internet were filed by the Cybercrime Prosecution Division.

In the context of prevention to combat the phenomenon of child pornography, the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime, carried out a coordinated operation during which it carried out a digital analysis and a thorough online investigation, in order to identify internet users, within the Greek Territory, who possessed and could distribute child pornography.

During the operation, information was also received from foreign authorities, regarding the illegal activity of sharing pornographic material of minors, which was carried out by internet users within the Greek territory.

The particulars were brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office and from the subsequent thorough and thorough digital and online research, the identity details and the place of residence of the above involved persons were ascertained.

What did the investigations find?

Investigations followed, in the presence of judicial officials, from July 1, 2024 to July 3, 2024, in the homes of the three involved, in areas of Northern Greece, where a total of -7- hard drives, laptops, tablets and mobile phones were found and confiscated.

From the on-site digital investigation, carried out by an echelon of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, on the seized evidence, it emerged the involvement of the 38-year-old, who was arrested at the limits of the autoforo and taken to the competent Prosecution Authority, while for the other -2- involved, were formed against them, the criminal proceedings of regular proceedings, for violation of the provisions of the Law on the pornography of minors and were submitted competently.

The confiscated digital evidence, of all the perpetrators, was sent to the competent Department of the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece for laboratory examination.
