The fire broke out earlier in a forest area in Thermi Thessaloniki. Shortly after 2:00 p.m 112 warning message sounded so that the residents were initially on the lookout, while 2 more messages from 112 followed so that the residents moved away from the scene.
The fire burned a verdant area where there are scattered houses.
As said by Kosmas Tsilias, President of Trilofou Community, speaking to SKAI TV, the fires are scattered, while the fire is burning near houses. He also mentioned the wind which is strengthening something which makes the work of the fire brigade difficult. However, at this time the wind has abated somewhat helping the firefighters’ work.
From his side Nikos Kouletas, President of Plagiario he said 4-5 houses were damaged.
Firefighters and volunteers have been trying to set up fire zones to stop the flames before they threaten more homes, which is difficult, however, as there is not enough space given that the lots are next to each other.
At the same time, speaking on SKAI radio, Mr. Kouletas stated that gasses were detected earlier in Livadi Thermi.
For now, only aerial vehicles are operating at the site.
