Roma attacked the woman, who called the police
A truly incredible incident took place late Sunday afternoon inside a city bus, specifically the one running the Artemis – Mint line in the area of Chalandrio.
A 53-year-old woman of Moldovan origin entered the bus from the original stop in Agios Nikolaos in Artemisa, to return home. Other people boarded together and among them, according to the complaint, a group of about 20 Roma, men, women and children.
Some of them were drunk, holding beers in their hands, making noise and swearing while, according to the complaint, the children were also playing ball inside the bus.
Annoyed, the woman made a remark to them to stop shouting.
They reacted, cursed her and the woman informed the police.
The police seem to have gone to the Cross of Agia Paraskevi. A roadblock was set up there. They signaled to the bus driver. He probably didn’t realize that he was being signaled, he didn’t stop and continued on to the Mint terminal.
There the disembarking of the passengers started and when a 53-year-old Roma woman went to get off, he verbally assaulted her initially saying did you call the police? Four will take you from here.”
Roma slapped the 53-year-old woman and grabbed the mobile phone from her hand, then left with the others towards the camp in the area.
After about an hour, the woman went to the police station, reported exactly what had happened, proceeded with her complaint, searches were carried out, the perpetrators of the specific incident were not identified and now the police are trying to identify the persons involved from security cameras.
