Father’s Day falls on Sunday the 11th, and with one week to go, it’s time to think about where to celebrate the occasion. In the capital of São Paulo, restaurants and bars prepare complete menus and special recipes for lunch.
Prices start at R$89 per person (with starter, main course and dessert) and the suggestions are influenced by various cuisines, such as Italian, Vietnamese, Japanese and French. Other restaurants focus on meat and barbecue, which is closely associated with the date. Check out a selection of addresses below.

Bario Bar
The bar dedicated to arcade games and old games, which has just opened a second location in Tatuapé, is welcoming parents with a special program on Sunday. The package includes unlimited draft beer or soft drinks and an all-you-can-drink snack. Options include rustic potatoes topped with shredded pork loin and barbecue sauce, roasted pork ribs and vegan recipes, such as jackfruit coxinha. If you make a reservation by the 9th, the combo costs R$149.90. On that day, it costs R$189.90.

Belo Café
A branch of the Minas Gerais restaurant run by chef Andreza Luisa, this Father’s Day menu includes a starter, main course, dessert and welcome drink for R$150 per person. Options include chicken gyoza with corn and roasted straw dashi to whet your appetite, and grilled fish with herb oil and creamy buttery cassava as the main course. The finishing touch is grandma’s pavê, a classic dessert with biscuits, caramelized pineapple and pastry cream.

Bia Hoi
Chef Dani Borges is preparing a special Vietnamese-inspired menu on Sunday at the restaurant’s Pinheiros and Centro locations. Priced at R$92 per person, it includes a pair of bahn goi, typical Vietnamese pastries, a bo kho rib and a 500 ml bottle of the restaurant’s craft beer.

Charlotte
Chef Carla Pernambuco, who is about to celebrate her 30th anniversary, has created three special recipes for the occasion. For starters, we suggest roasted pumpkin served with smoked butter, nuts and curd (R$50). Next, the main course is gnocchi with fennel and homemade sausage and parmesan fondue (R$90). For dessert, baked strawberries with white chocolate cream and marshmallow (R$39).

Rios House
The restaurant run by chef Rodrigo Aguiar hosts a barbecue on Sundays. It is served in two stages: the first features recipes such as grilled chicken coxinha with cream cheese foam and wood-fired cornbread with smoked butter and pickled vegetables. The second features grilled ancho with demi glace, grilled heart skewers lacquered in citrus sauce and grilled curd with fermented honey and sweet garlic, among other suggestions. It costs R$290 and serves two people.

Elea Bakery
Chef Enrico Villela will be preparing two dishes on Sunday. One is pork porchetta stuffed with herbs, pancetta, almonds and spices, slowly roasted in a salt crust and accompanied by potato salad, eggs and Sicilian lemon (R$85). The other is octopus rice, made with carnaroli rice cooked in octopus broth and molasses in red pepper ink, aioli, salsa verde and octopus finished in the oven (R$ 115).

Foglia – Artisan Bakery
The Italian restaurant, with a menu created by father and son chefs Franco Ravioli and Lorenzo Ravioli, welcomes customers on the date with a three-course menu. The meal begins with a portion of arancini accompanied by pesto sauce, followed by filet mignon medallions in rôti sauce and artichokes with fettuccine al burro and sage, ending with the traditional tiramisu. Lunch costs R$175.39. For dinner, the duo prepares the pizza del Capo, made with tomato sauce, concassè tomatoes, parmesan, burrata, alice and basil (R$90.39).

Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo
The hotel serves a lunch buffet with a variety of breads, cold cuts, cheeses, salads, hot dishes, a seafood station and desserts, as well as a kids’ menu, vegan recipes and a barbecue station with freshly grilled meats, sides and snacks. The package also includes a welcome drink made with whiskey and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It costs R$390 per adult and R$195 for children aged six to 11 — there is a recreation area on site and live music on the day.

At the Armazem restaurant, the hotel prepares a barbecue on Sundays that includes cuts such as picanha, ancho, flat iron and flank steak. The meal includes a salad bar, a Japanese food station and other options such as shrimp risotto and oven-baked rice. In the sweet section, there is cream cake with peaches and brigadeiro tartlet with whiskey and peanuts. Drinks, such as caipirinha and beer, are included, at a price of R$230 per person. Children up to five years old eat free, and those aged six to 12 pay half price.

Asian Icon
With Asian inspiration, the menu for the date is offered for R$165 and starts with ceviche or steak tartare as a starter. For the main course, you can choose between tuna with wasabi puree or gyudon. To sweeten things up, the dessert has salt in my caramel, a buttery biscuit covered with salted caramel, semisweet chocolate, flaked salt and Togarashi pepper. The restaurant also offers a complimentary shot of sake.

Miró Gastronomy
The restaurant’s recipe for Father’s Day lunch is the traditional Beef Wellington, priced at R$98. Prepared by chef Dalton Rangel, the fillet is wrapped in puff pastry, served with parma ham, mushrooms with mashed potatoes and glaze.

The wine bar at the foot of Copan offers a set menu for parents for R$160. Created by chef Gabriela Guerriero, it includes a tomato salad with anchovies, fried capers and basil accompanied by focaccia as a starter. For the main course, there are three options: filet with Bernaise sauce and fries with smoked paprika, linguine with shrimp bisque, mussels, molica and Sicilian lemon or smoked eggplant with white bean hummus, crispy chickpeas and harissa (pepper). The cream cheese with coffee zabaglione, candied orange and spiced crumble rounds off the meal.

Poor John
The restaurant, which specializes in meats, also serves a special menu for Father’s Day. It costs R$329 for two people and includes a salad with mixed greens, almonds, pata negra ham and balsamic oil, followed by the gran Pobre Juan, a cut of ancho steak served with yam mousseline and farofa. To top it off, there’s a dulce de leche pancake.

Black Kitchen
The suggestion created by chef Rodrigo Freire for the date serves up to four people. It is the balaio de gato, a recipe prepared with seafood, which consists of a bed of corn couscous with squid, octopus, shrimp, mussels, cavaquinha, a mix of grilled mini vegetables and fried cassava. Served only on Sunday, it costs R$367. Those who order it receive a complimentary non-alcoholic drink, which can be the aluá, a version of the ancestral Afro-indigenous drink, with ginger, pineapple and spices, or the águas de Juçara, made with juçara, hibiscus infused with Bahia orange and sugarcane molasses.

Hot in the Mouth
For Father’s Day, the country kitchen that pays homage to the writer Guimarães Rosa is serving a cassoulet from Minas Gerais. The dish includes white beans, sausage, calabresa sausage, shredded chicken breast and diced pork loin, served with white rice. It costs R$89 and comes with a starter, which can be a rice cake with semi-cured cheese or salad, and dessert, a pumpkin sweet with coconut and yogurt or a coffee pudding with milk.

Chef Carla Costa has created two menus for the occasion, one of which is vegetarian and served during lunch. Divided into three courses, the menu costs R$147 per person and starts with pan tomaca with or without raw ham, followed by fresh pasta lasagna, which can be bolognese or zucchini with cream cheese, accompanied by a salad. To finish the meal, cheesecake with homemade dulce de leche.
