July 2024 was the warmest on record for Greece, according to the preliminary meteorological data analyzed by the scientific team of meteo.gr/National Observatory of Athens.

July 2024 in Greece was characterized by long periods with high temperature values ​​for many days, far exceeding the normal temperatures for the season throughout the country. When analyzing the average temperature for the month of July from 1960 to 2024, in the whole of Greece, July 2024 is recorded as the warmest on record for Greece, exceeding by +2.9°C the average value of the period 1991-2020 and by +0.3°C in the previously warmest July, i.e. that of 2012.

As noted, in the last four years three of the four warmest July months have been recorded for Greece in at least the last 80 years.

Regarding the trend of the average temperature in Greece from 1960 to 2024 for the period of July, it shows an increase of +2.5°C.
