Zezé Di Camargo, 61, gave the name and surname of a singer he tries to keep at a distance: Lulu Santos. He has a grudge against the singer of “Um Certo Alguém” and “Toda Forma de Amor”, 71, and this has been going on since the early 1990s. “I not only avoid, but I have avoided, Lulu Santos. He made many comments and jokes about sertanejo when the rhythm first emerged”, Zezé acknowledged.

The country singer also said that the reason for the disagreement is linked to Lulu Santos’ comments on the country music scene. “On one occasion, he was telling a story on the show Jo Soares about why he hated sertanejo. He mentioned that, while he was having a tooth treated and listening to sertanejo, he thought the rhythm was comparable to a toothache”, said the singer in an interview with the program Sabadou, by Virginia Fonseca, on Record.

Zezé also had a public disagreement with Rita Lee in 2005. The singer, who was then one of the hosts of the TV show Saia Justa on GNT, criticized Zezé, accusing him of defending rodeos, and soap opera writer Gloria Perez, for including them in the soap opera “América” on Globo. “If Zezé knows about the abuse and thinks it’s normal, I’m sorry for your spiritual ignorance. If you don’t know, it’s time to learn about it.”

Soon after, Zezé Di Camargo retorted by challenging Rita Lee (1947-2023). “She and I are going with a veterinarian to a rodeo. If the technical report proves animal abuse, I will never sing at these events again,” said the country singer.
