The reopening of the Xanthi police schoolafter a 15-year shutdown, the Minister of Citizen Protection announced today Michalis Chrysochoidisduring the autopsy of the works he did at the Hellenic Police Academy, where the new students who passed the nationwide exams will be accommodated.
The minister, accompanied by the MP of Xanthi Spyros Tsilingiris and the mayor of Xanthi, Stratos Kondo, he was guided to the under construction premises of the school which, from the new academic year, will host 150 new students.
“This is a commitment of the prime minister and an obligation of ours towards the society of Xanthi that is being implemented,” Mr. Chrysochoidis emphasized in his statements and underlined that “this is only the beginning. We will continue with the beautification and restoration of the remaining building facilities within the police academy in order to gradually increase the number of students in the coming years.”
The Minister of Citizen Protection also announced that among the ministry’s intentions is the recruitment of fifty more new border guards who will be hired based on locality criteria and will contribute significantly to the security of the wider area of ​​Xanthi.

He made special reference to the sense of security that has now developed in Evros but also in the whole of Thrace through the initiatives that have been taken and the systematic efforts made by the police and the army which, as he noted, “do a huge national task in the region ».
“Evros is safe” added the minister emphatically and continued, migration flows have decreased significantly and personnel have increased significantly after the events of 2020. We have around 1000 new border guards available. Border surveillance is carried out by all means, with modern electronic systems, with joint operational centers, with observatories, with the fence and a series of other interventions. Evros has changed, it is safe and guarantees the safety of the whole of Greece”, concluded Mr. Chrysochoidis.
