Tthe implementation of a traffic ban on the hill of Lycabettus was decided by the Municipality of Athens, ltaking into account the measures foreseen in alarm situations, such as the one announced for tomorrow, Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Attica (Danger Category 5).

All Municipal Services (Green, Cleaning, Municipal Police and independent Civil Protection department) will be on alert with 24-hour patrols, the announcement states.

As part of the implementation of the Civil Protection Plan of the Municipality of Athens, all the large green areas of the city will be protected, including Lycabettus, Strefi, Filopappou, Turkovounia and Ilisia hills. In addition, water tankers will be available to support the work of the Fire Department in case of need. The Municipal Police will use drones to control the green areas of Athens, in order to inform the Fire Department where necessary.

In its announcement, the Municipality of Athens also calls on citizens and organizations to exercise particular caution and, in case they perceive any danger, to contact 1595 (fee depending on the provider), which operates on a 24-hour basis.
