The ban applies from the reference point of the Ierissou Water Park until the raw sewage problem is remedied
Temporary ban on the use of the swimming shore at Ierissos beach due to a leak untreated sewagedue to damage to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) unit of the municipality of Aristoteli was imposed for precautionary reasons by the decision of the deputy governor of the Halkidiki Regional Unit, Aikaterini Zografou.
Specifically, the ban applies from the reference point of the Ierissou Water Park (Molos on Vas. Georgiou Street, 200 meters towards the pier on Iroon Street and 200 meters to the Ierissou Camping) and until the problem is remedied and the quality of the of swimming waters in the area, following sampling and laboratory results.
The decision highlights the need for marking by placing signs with the words “Swimming prohibited” on the specific swimming shore and informing the public by any appropriate means under the responsibility of the municipality of Aristoteli. The port authorities are asked to monitor the implementation of the decision. Also, the Municipality of Aristoteli is requested to inform the Directorate of Public Health and Social Care of the PE of Halkidiki, regarding the restoration of the damage to the EEL unit. also sending laboratory results from the specific sea area.
The Directorate of Public Health and Social Care of the PE of Halkidiki, will monitor the quality of the waters of the swimming beaches by carrying out sampling and analyses, for the results of which it will inform the competent Services (Municipality, Port Authority, etc.).
