The fire that broke out yesterday at midnight in the area of Voskochorio, in the Municipality of Kozani, in Parharia, continues to rage.
According to information from the responsible Deputy Mayor of Civil Protection, Leonidas Arnidis, to ERT, the firefighting operation is large, the area is difficult to access and is burning grassland and trees with low vegetation.
At the scene of the fire – which was probably caused by lightning – 10 vehicles of the Kozani Fire Department with 25 people, as well as 11 people from the pedestrian section and 1 water truck of the Municipality that supplies the vehicles together with a private person, are operating at the scene of the fire.

Firefighters from Kastoria, Grevena and Kilkis are also involved in extinguishing the fire.

The picture of the fire on Mount Pangaio in Kavala is better, according to the Fire Service, while regarding the fire in Stegno Nestos, in the same prefecture, there is no active front. At the same time, the fire on Olympos, which broke out in the previous 24 hours, at a high altitude, near the Petrostruga shelter, was contained.
In Pangaio, the fire extinguishing operation continues for the eighth 24 hours and since the morning seven aerial vehicles, four helicopters and three aircraft have been operating, while 280 firefighters, 46 vehicles, 25 pedestrian units and many volunteers are at the scene. The picture of the fire is better, however there are still active foci, as reported by Fire Department sources.
On the contrary, the forest fire that occurred yesterday in Stegnos Nestos does not show any active front, while the scattered outbreaks are being dealt with by ground and aerial firefighting forces. Two helicopters drop water from early on, while 41 firefighters with 12 vehicles and three pedestrian units operate in the area from the ground.
In the meantime, the forest fire that broke out at the beginning of the week in Olympus, in an inaccessible spot and at an altitude of more than 1,900 meters, is largely contained. A helicopter has been spraying water since the morning, while 20 firefighters, three pedestrian units and two vehicles are at the scene.
