Filozoiki’s complaints and the “fight” between residents of two villages
Mystery with the successive disappearances of herds of stray horses, from various regions of Greece.
After the mysterious disappearance of more than 60 horses from the area of Karditsa, a new complaint that has come to light has once again raised the alarm for animal welfare organizations, as well as the relevant agencies.
Recently, according to agrinionews.gr, the traces of almost 150 horses from Messolonghi have been lost.
It is recalled that, a few months before, the existence of the herd had allegedly been the “apple of strife” for residents of two villages in the area of Messolonghi. In particular, the residents of the village of Agios Georgios accuse those of Galatas of promoting horses in their area, resulting in the destruction of their crops.
“The horses crossed to another municipality. We didn’t have wild horses and they suddenly appeared. People from Galata took the law into their own hands. We have information that they brought them from there. The horses must go, because they are causing damage,” a resident who cultivates land in Agios Georgios told Ionian TV.
The case of Karditsa
In addition, around the beginning of May, a post by the “Association for the Protection of Abused Animals of Larisa “Eleftheros””, about the disappearance of more than 60 stray horses, had mobilized the authorities, but their traces have not yet been found.
Among other things, in their post, they talked about the animals being taken by “professional thieves”, since they are wild and could hardly be tamed by someone without specialized knowledge.
The post in detail:
“A mysterious incident happened in Thessaly. An entire unit of about 60 free horses disappeared in an unknown manner. The mystery is that the horses were not so calm, and such a number leads us to professional thieves. The animals lived in Petrilo Karditsa in the Municipality of Eastern Argithea. If you know anything, saw or heard anything, contact our page or the association’s phone numbers. Help save the souls. It will be a great help for us to be contacted by people who have the appropriate experience and deal with horses.”
