TikTok smelled like a cucumber. This is not a joke. This summer, various versions of making a cool cucumber salad have gone viral with cucumber as the main ingredient.

The president of the “cucumber community” is Logan (@logagm), who shares with his followers many recipes for cold, crunchy cucumber salads, eaten in a jar.

With more than 6.3 million followers on the TikTok app, with an average of two to six million views on most videos, Logan has been making waves with his delicious, easy-to-make cucumber dishes.

The Greek version of cucumber salad

@Madame ginger, a Greek chef, posted on her Instagram her own version of the cucumber salad.

Materials:
1 large cucumber
3 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp peanut butter
3 tbsp nutritional yeast
juice of ½ lemon
2 kg. maple or agave syrup
100g boiled chickpeas
1 tsp hot or sweet bukovo
2 kg. sesame, white or black;
salt & freshly ground pepper

In essence, the preparation of cucumber salad is very simple, for the so-called lazy people in the kitchen. You put everything in a jar and mix it.

In Iceland they ran out of cucumbers

Icelandic supermarkets have run out of cucumbers due to the viral TikTok trend, as an unprecedented surge in demand has followed, leaving suppliers scrambling to keep up.

Farmers in the country have been unable to keep up with the growing demand, Iceland’s farmers’ union, the Society for Fruit Sales (SFG), told BBC News.

SFG marketing director Kristín Linda Sveinsdóttir said that as things stand, farmers in Iceland are unable to keep up with growing consumer demand, but said she hoped supply would return to normal.

Farmers in Iceland, which has a population of 393,600, produce around six million cucumbers, Ms Sveinsdóttir told the BBC.

There were also accidents

TikToker Jackson Dean (@jacksondean) filmed himself making Logan’s viral salad with his girlfriend and colleague Paige Taylor(@paigetaylor). “God, please watch your hand,” Taylor begged Dean. After placing the cucumber on the sharp tool and starting to move it back and forth, Dean overdid the technique, forgetting to keep his fingers away from the bottom.

The result was that he cut his finger and ended up in the emergency room.
