Targeted actions to detect criminal behavior of professional TAXI drivers in Attica
Targeted actions were carried out during the time period from September 1 to 7, 2024 by police officers of the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Teams (T.E.P.T.A.) of the Attica Traffic Directorate, with the aim of identifying and – as the case may be – arresting and attestation of violations to professional TAXI drivers in Attica.
The controls were focused on the Intercity Bus Stations of Kifissos and Liosion, around the Piraeus Port and in the area of ​​the Acropolis, resulting in the arrest of -3- drivers and the confirmation of -99- violations.
In particular, -3- drivers were arrested -as the case may be- for possessing a fake special taxi driver’s license and for collecting a fee greater than that allowed by the provisions, while the regular process of filing lawsuits was further followed for other -6- drivers, -5- of which were charging excessive fares and -1- being denied a driving license.
The -99- violations concerned:
-63- Disciplinary violations:
-15- for deprivation of a special taxi driver’s license.
-30- for not using a taximeter while driving.
-6- for excessive fare.
-2- for fake special taxi driving licenses.
-1- for an expired special taxi driver’s license.
-3- for placing a taximeter in an inconspicuous place.
-4- for exceeding the scheduled taxi withdrawal time.
-2- others.
-36- violations “About KOK”:
-5- for an inconspicuous license plate.
-9- for deprivation of a valid Technical Inspection Certificate (KTEO).
-3- for improper use of a mobile phone while driving.
-1- for deprivation of the prescribed driving license category.
-18- others.
In the above context, -2- driving licences, -9- driving licences, -2- special taxi driving licences, -5- pairs of license plates and -3- single license plates were removed, while further -4- taxis were stopped.
For all the above violations, the appropriate administrative fines were imposed and the competent Disciplinary Boards of taxi drivers were informed of their own further actions.
The arrested persons, with the charges filed against them, were taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
The controls of the Greek Police, with the aim of dealing with the delinquent behavior of professional drivers and strengthening the sense of security among the traveling citizens, will continue.
