The local community of Bartholomew is in an uproar after the development that is launching a number of reactions
Students of the 2nd and 3rd grades of GEL Bartholomew will welcome the new school year with lockouts and strong protests, with the parents’ and guardians’ association and the city’s agencies on their side. The reason? The surprise decision of the Ministry of Education, just two days before the start of the schools, not to operate the small-member sections of the above classes and to transfer the students to a school unit in another area, without, however, having officially announced the choice of the school.
The local community of Bartholomew is in an uproar after the development that is launching a number of reactions. There are only 12 students in the 3rd Lyceum at the GEL Bartholomew, while there are only 3 students in the Theoretical direction. The direction department of the 2nd Lyceum has only 6 students. As the children’s parents claim, on Monday night (9/9) they were informed of the Ministry’s decision not to operate the small-member classes of the school and to transfer the children to another school environment.
In her statements at ilialive.grthe president of the association of parents and guardians of GEL Bartholomew Maria Thanopoulou unequivocally emphasizes: “It is certain that the school will be locked from the children and parents during the consecration. It was only last night (Monday) that we learned that the small-member sections of the C Lyceum and a direction section of the B Lyceum were not approved, but we still have no official information. In other words, there is a suspension of the C Lyceum and all the children will have to be transferred, but we still don’t know where. The most likely school is Gastouni, but we have no official information.”
Strong are the reactions of all the parents, who declare through the mouth of Mrs. Thanopoulou that something like this is not acceptable. “We, as parents, do not want our children to change their school environment, especially this year when they are taking pan-Hellenic exams.
We’re talking about students, not percentage points, and right now our kids are up in the air. Is it possible, two days before the consecration, to have such discussions? We take care of the tranquility of the children, not to disturb their balance, and with a decision they expel the students from the familiar school environment? It is mockery and mockery! I don’t think the parents will let the school open and hold a consecration.”
