The prisoner escaped while waiting to be picked up by a competent Security Service with the police in pursuit
A 45-year-old citizen, who had earlier escaped from the Omonia Police Department, was arrested in the evening hours today (September 29, 2024) by police officers of the Omonia Police Department with the assistance of Immediate Action police officers.
According to the police, the 45-year-old was brought in at noon of the same day, by patrolling police officers of the DIAS Team. at the aforementioned Police Department, because when checking his details in a database on a device carried by the patrols, he was employed as a prosecuted person.
Upon the prisoner’s arrival at the Police Department, he was taken to the temporary detention area, in order to verify his prosecution documents.
Upon completion of the procedure, while waiting for him to be picked up by a competent Security Service, the prisoner escaped, with the police chasing him, while the Immediate Action Center was informed, where the coordination of the forces succeeded in locating the wanted prisoner.
The Omonia Security Department handles the preliminary investigation of the circumstances of the escape.
