According to the Police, vehicular traffic is being diverted on the old Corinth – Patras highway from the Lykoporia junction, at the 132nd kilometer, to the Derveni junction, at the 140th kilometer.

“The situation, due to the fire that broke out on Sunday in the Rozena area, remains tragic for the second day in a row,” says Vlasis Tsiotos, the mayor of Xylokastro – Eurostini, speaking to APE-MPE.
As he adds, “there are many active outbreaks, while a large part of the mountainous mass of the region has already burned.” In fact, as described by Vlasis Tsiotos, “there have been battles with flames literally inside the villages, where fire, firefighters and residents coexisted. Regarding the damage caused by the fire so far, Vlasis Tsiotos tells APE-MBE that “there is total destruction in crops”, while as he added, “there are relatively few houses that have burned”.
390 firefighters with 16 forest commando teams and 115 vehicles, volunteers and volunteer Civil Protection teams, as well as water tankers and project machinery of the Peloponnese Region and the General Staff of National Defense, as well as forces of the Forestry Service and the Greek Police, are operating at the scene. From the air, 24 aerial vehicles, 12 aircraft and 12 helicopters, of which 2 for their coordination, have operated in rotation.

At the same time, successive messages via 112 have been sent to residents of settlements in the wider area due to the ongoing fire.
In particular, today, through 112, messages have been sent to the residents of the Pyrgos, Chelydoreo, Zacholi, Lagadaiika, Spartinaika, Pellini, Ano Kallithea Xylokastro areas in order to stay away from them.
2 people dead
It is recalled that two people were found dead as announced today by the Police. In particular, 2 bodies were found by the OPKE team in a forest area in Corinth. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Fire Department, while according to information the two bodies were found outside the village of Elliniko, near the camp of Happy Fighters. The process for their identification is underway, in order to establish whether they belong to the two men, 35 and 40 years old, who have been missing since late last night in the wider area of ​​Ano Pitso, Corinthia.
According to competent sources, the two men took their motorbikes and moved towards the corral of their acquaintance to help him. According to the same information, firemen who met them on the street urged them to move away, as there was a fire in progress.
It is noted that since yesterday an order has been given – through 112 – for the evacuation of 6 settlements, while, according to the information so far from the Fire Department, there are reports of damage in the area of ​​the Greek Wooden Castle of Corinthia. However, a complete picture will be available after the fire is extinguished.
The fire broke out yesterday in a forest area at 10:51 and took on large dimensions, as it spread over a large perimeter due to the very strong winds blowing in the area with gusts of up to 8 Beaufort.
