“This action was taken in response to the pleas and explanations given by the victim’s environment,” the Palestinian Parish emphasizes
“OR Palestinian Parish in Greece announces that it is withdrawing the post from its page concerning the death of the Greek citizen in Jaffa”, as emphasized in an online post, while it is pointed out that “this action was taken in response to the pleas and explanations given by the victim’s environment” .
The post criticizes the reaction of some media towards the Palestinian Community, from a “minimum number” of hostile voices, as stated, in contrast to “the position of the Greek people, who always support the national rights of the Palestinians and support their struggle for freedom and expulsion of the occupation” and, among other things, it is emphasized:
“We assure these false voices that they will not stop us from raising our voice against the occupation…. We express our solidarity for the loss of the souls of all innocent people.”
The post that caused reactions
It is recalled that on the occasion of the death of 26-year-old Ionas Karousis, who died on Tuesday, during the terrorist attack in Jaffa in Tel Aviv, the Palestinian Authority in Greece had argued that “unfortunately, Ionas was not an innocent citizen visiting Israel. He was a member of the Israeli army.”
Uncle Iona Karousi: It is a shameless lie to present him as an Israeli soldier – He was a friend of peace
Speaking to SKAI and on the show “Kalimera” with Fai Mavragani, the uncle of the deceased Ionas, Giorgos Karousis, spoke of the fact that they presented Ionas Karousis as a member of the Israeli army as a shameless lie.
“Yesterday there was an attempt with a shameless lie and a despicable announcement from an alleged Palestinian parish in Greece, where they presented Ionas not as an innocent victim but as a member of the Israeli army. It’s a terrible lie. They are trying to demonstrate that this unacceptable act of terrorism is justified. They presented him as a mercenary, who went down from Greece to Israel to serve the Israeli army, while he was born, grew up, went to school there and by law, compulsorily, went to the army there,” he said.
“If the Palestinian community in Greece approves and incites terrorist acts, the Greek Justice should intervene. He was a friend of peace. When he joined the army he asked not to join a combat unit and in the last two enlistments he asked not to be taken. This shows the ethos of the family and of itself,” he added.
