The 31-year-old accused of killing six stray animals (five cats and one dog) and injuring three others, in Volos, with the agreement of the investigator and the prosecutor, after today’s apology.

At the same time, according to ERT, the request of the defense to be preceded by a psychiatric expert opinion and to carry out special psychometric tests, in order to prove the psychiatric condition of the 31-year-old and to incarcerate him in a psychiatric institution and not in a penitentiary.

To this request, the investigator and the prosecutor replied that the side of the accused can submit a relevant request to the management of the prisons where the 31-year-old will be held, so that, if deemed appropriate, he can be transferred to the Korydallos psychiatric facility.

“He wasn’t taking his pills,” the parents testified

The parents of the 31-year-old also testified to the investigator, who claimed that initially, the strange behavior their son was showing, they attributed it to the use of narcotic substances and did not immediately realize the serious psychiatric problems he was facing. The seriousness of the situation began to become more noticeable, when in 2021 the 31-year-old was arrested and convicted as an exhibitionist.

Since then, with medication he has been able to function and lead a normal life, however, during the last period, during which the criminal acts of killing and injuring stray animals were also committed, he was not receiving his treatment.
