The case reaches the courts, following an investigation ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office of Serres – What has happened
On trial at the Three-member Misdemeanor Court Serron 11 people are referred for the death of an 11-year-old student and the injury of two others, in the courtyard of the 9th primary school of Serres, after a boiler explosion, which occurred in December 2022, during the execution of work for the energy upgrade of the school’s heating system.
This is an engineer – head of the construction site, the head of the electrical work crew, six employees of the Technical Services Directorate of the Municipality of Serres, the (then) director of the primary school, the (then) director of Serres Primary Education and an educational project coordinator.
According to information, the 11 defendants will be brought before the Court, depending on the case, for an explosion due to gross negligence, from which a danger to a person arose, and for manslaughter and bodily harm due to gross negligence, by an obligor (all acts in degree misdemeanor).
