An urgent preliminary investigation into the fall of the elevator in the 3rd Student Residence of AUTH, was ordered by the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office.
Specifically, the head of the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, Styliani Giailoglou, asked the criminal prosecution prosecutor, Athanasia Yfantis, to order a criminal investigation into the incident, in order to establish whether the offenses of commonly dangerous damage, negligence, or violation of building regulations are established. , by negligence.
As part of the investigation, which the Fire Service is called upon to carry out, the circumstances under which the fall occurred will be examined, while the time of the last maintenance of the specific elevator will be investigated, as well as any use of unsafe materials in it.
With the same order, the public prosecutor requests that all elevators of the Institution’s Student Residences be checked to determine if there are any signs of faulty maintenance.
It should be noted that the incident happened last Monday night, without any student in the elevator cage. Although the Fire Department was called to the scene, it did not have to intervene. The Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation also launched an investigation into the incident.
