The athlete was taken by the EKAV ambulance to the KAT hospital where he was pronounced dead”, it says.
“We apologize for the interruption of the race to the hundreds of athletes who were waiting for the 5km and 1km course, however we think that this celebration of sports loses its meaning after such an event” adds Municipality of Chalandrio.
“The Municipality of Chalandrio and the Directorate of Sports express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased”, the announcement concludes.
