Expected to sell for over $15 million, in a confidential bidding process for a select few and VIP potential buyers
The Ferrari 248 F1 driven by the legendary Michael Schumacher in the 2006 Formula 1 championship is going to a confidential auction next month at RM Sotheby’s in New York and is expected to sell for more than $15 million.
The confidential bidding process is often done on rare and valuable items, ensuring an exclusive and discreet buying experience for few and VIP potential buyers.
With this particular Ferrari, in his last season with the company, Schumacher managed to achieve five victories. It was the year he claimed his eighth title but fell short due to Spain’s Fernando Alonso who was crowned champion for the second consecutive season.
The car was acquired directly from Ferrari by its current owner and holds the prestigious Ferrari Classiche certification, which it received in 2008.
Market interest in Schumacher’s F1 cars remains high over the years.
The record for the most expensive F1 car is held by the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R, which sold for around $29.6 million in 2013.
The Ferrari 248 F1 is likely to surpass $15 million and become one of the most expensive Formula 1 cars of all time.
