The increase in the number of arrests, arrests and traffic violations confirmed in the first 9 months of 2024, compared to the corresponding period of 2023, in Western Attica is significant, according to the data released by ELAS.

In particular, according to ELAS, in areas of Western Attica, in the first 9 months of 2024, 6,469 outing actions were carried out (increased by 73.3%), with the participation of an increased number of police officers (by 70.1%) from order, security, traffic services , as well as the Direct Action and Foreign Attica offices.

In the context of these actions, the following were carried out:

* 101,443 vehicle checks (70% increase)

* 203,743 person checks (67.9% increase)

* 19,100 additions (13.1% increase) and

* 3,659 arrests for various offenses (increase by 113.7%) while a total of 38,794 traffic violations were confirmed (increase by 74.6%).

As pointed out in the ELAS announcement, the above results are due to its new plan to prevent and fight crime, which was drawn up and will be fully implemented from January 2024. The plan has given special emphasis to areas with increased incidents of delinquency, with the aim strengthening citizens’ sense of security.

“The Hellenic Police will continue its actions in the context of operational planning to fight crime and ensure order and security of citizens throughout the territory” concludes ELAS in its announcement.
