The strike of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation, which earlier had a meeting with the Minister of Shipping, Christos Stylianides, has ended and then they met for the final decisions.

The strike was scheduled to end at 23:59, however it was decided to depart from 14:00 due to the three-day holiday on 28 October.

The trade unionists of PNO got assurances in the meeting they had with Christos Stylianidis and, thus, after almost four days, the routes are starting again.

Details of the itineraries from the port of Piraeus from 21/10 to 27/10 here and from 28/11 to 03/11 here.

The relevant PNO announcement states:

“The Management of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation, which met today to assess and evaluate the ongoing strike, following the responses it received from SEEN and from the Ministry regarding our requests, informs you of the following:

The proposal that came in writing from SEEN for the SSE increase rates of our colleagues in Passenger Coastal Ships and Mediterranean Tourist Ships (E/G-O/G International Ships and Cruise Ships), is 5% for 2025 and 2% for in 2026.

From the Ministry’s point of view, after today’s meeting of the General Secretary and the Administration of the PNO with the Minister of Shipping & Island Policy as well as official factors, there was a commitment to the following:

  • Immediate implementation of the amendment of the terms and conditions for the beneficiaries of the unemployment benefit from GENE, but also its increase from 350 euros, to the level that the unemployment benefit is granted on land
  • Increase in the fines imposed for the violation of the hours of work and rest of the Seafarers.
  • Faithful observance and strict application of the legislation that governs seafaring both for working and rest hours as well as for double crews and especially in E/G-O/G high-speed ships.
  • Meeting until November 25 on the issues governing the organic compositions in Law 4150/2013 and especially the E/G-O/G that are active in the Adriatic.

After a detailed discussion and exchange of views, the majority of the Management of PNO accepted the above proposals and commitments, pointing out that we will not give up the continuous effort for the implementation of all our other requests.

At the same time, being fully aware of the social situation, but also taking into account various other parameters, the Administration of the Federation decided not to continue our strike mobilization which will end today at 14.00 instead of 23.59.

The PNO considers it an obligation to thank the crews of the ships and all the Seafarers, who massively raised their stature, rallied around the Administration of the Federation for the success of the strike action.

Finally, it would be remiss if our Federation did not express its thanks to the passenger public, for their full understanding of our fair fight”.
