The journalist and writer passed away at the early hours of Sunday, at the age of 65 Dimitris Triantafyllidisafter a recent battle with cancer.

The sad news of his death was announced by his son, Vassilis, through his post on Facebook.

“My father, Dimitris Triantafyllidis, completed his earthly journey last night at the hospital where he had been treated for the last few months. He rested after a huge ordeal,” wrote his son, Vassilis, and referred to his wish for the funeral to take place in Ritsona.

Dimitris Triantafyllidis became more widely known to the audience of SKAI from the shows of Pavlos Tsimas and Aris Portosalte, who often hosted him especially for his knowledge of Russian issues.

Dimitris V. Triantafyllidis was born in 1959 in Thessaloniki. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Taras Shevchenko State University in Kyiv and then studied Theology at AUTH.

From a very early age, he was fascinated by Russian literature and thus began to translate iconic figures and texts. He had translated more than 130 books, which cover the entire range of Russian letters: philosophy, theology, history, politics, prose, poetry, theater, literary criticism, etc.

In 2014 he founded the magazine “Stepa”, a quarterly review of Russian culture, in which he published translations of important thinkers and writers, both past and present, in an effort to make it easier for the Greek reader to approach the complex and fascinating phenomenon which goes by the name of “Russian culture”.

At the same time, he published articles and studies in contemporary Greek magazines.
