The parents of Eleni Topaloudi ask the same from the Court of Appeals: Not to recognize any mitigation, not to change the sentence imposed for the brutal loss of their daughter.

The judges, after examining the approximately ten witnesses and evaluating the positions of the accused and all the material of the case file, will finally decide whether the two young men will return to prison with the same or reduced sentence.

The position of the accused, both during the pre-trial and in the first instance court, is that they had sex with the consent of Eleni Topaloudi and that the situation was diverted when the student praised the erotic performance of one resulting in the instantaneous explosion of the other.

This version was rejected by the judges of the Council of Criminal Procedure of Rhodes who referred them as well as the seven members of the First Instance Criminal Court who ruled that both participated equally in the rape and murder of the 21-year-old and in all subsequent actions they took to cover their traces. “They were in absolute collusion and sympathy with each other, especially during the rape and the killing of the victim,” the Judicial Council’s panel typically states.
