A bodybuilder has been charged with one felony and three misdemeanors for allegedly selling anabolic steroids to athletes and gym owners.

The accused is facing the offenses of professional supply and storage of pharmaceuticals, with the intention of obtaining a benefit on a continuous basis, circulation of harmful drugs on a continuous basis, possession of weapons and possession, storage and sale of pharmaceuticals on a continuous basis.

The accused was referred to an investigator.

The 59-year-old was arrested by the Financial Crimes Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Organized Crime Prosecution Directorate at midday on Wednesday, October 30.

In particular, following the utilization of information by the World Anti-Doping Organization, it emerged that the defendant, at least since March 2013, was active in the professional trafficking of prohibited anabolic preparations to athletes, gym owners and ordinary sportsmen in various regions of Greece.

Preparations from China and Bulgaria

As it emerged from the investigation, he procured the illegal preparations from China and Bulgaria and then trafficked them either hand to hand or by sending parcels.

It is estimated that the total income from his illegal activity exceeds -250,000- euros.

What did the investigations find?

In the search carried out at his home, in the presence of a judicial officer, the following were found and confiscated:

  • -2,083- pieces of anabolic preparations (tablets, ampoules and vials),
  • -7- stun guns,
  • air pistol with -2- ampoules,
  • -30- firearm cartridges, of various calibers,
  • knife-dagger,
  • -2- mobile phones,
  • handwritten notes and
  • -9,250- euros.

The arrested person, with the case filed against him, was taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
